FAQ

Frequently asked questions

1. What makes Get Sauce different from supermarket Asian sauces?

Get Sauce focuses on heritage-quality Asian condiments sourced for flavour, authenticity, and traditional production methods. Many of our sauces come from regions with deep culinary histories, such as Shantou, Shenzhen, Zhejiang, and Henan, and are selected to bring restaurant-level umami into Australian home kitchens.

2. Which product should I try first?

If you’re new to premium Asian condiments, start with the Yu Yue Zhejiang Traditional Vat-Aged Premium Soy Sauce. It’s versatile for dipping, seasoning, marinades, noodles, rice, stir-fries, and everyday cooking. If you want maximum umami, try one of the Shajing oyster sauces; if you want aroma and finishing flavour, try the Zhengdao stone-ground sesame oil.

3. How do I use the sauces?

Use them the way restaurants do: a little goes a long way.

  • Soy sauce: dipping, seasoning, marinades, noodles, fried rice.
  • Oyster sauce: stir-fries, vegetables, dumpling fillings, marinades.
  • Fish sauce: stir-fries, dipping sauces, congee, noodles, meat marinades.
  • Sesame oil: finishing oil, dressings, cold dishes, marinades, noodles.
4. Are your products made in Australia?

Our products are curated for Australian customers but are sourced from specialist producers in Asia. Current products include sauces from China, including Shantou, Shenzhen, Zhejiang, and Henan, depending on the product.

Future product options may include items from Japan, Korea and Thailand.

5. Do your sauces contain MSG, preservatives, or fillers?

Short answer: No.

For example, the Chaoshan 3-Year Aged Premium Fish Sauce is listed as having zero additives, with no preservatives, pigments, or MSG. The Shajing 100% Oyster Juice Pure Oyster Sauce is described as having no MSG, no sugar, and no fillers, with oyster, water, and salt as its listed ingredients.

However, as we're always expanding our product offerings, do check each product page for the specific ingredient list.

6. Do your products contain allergens?

Yes, some products contain common allergens. For example, the fish sauce contains seafood ingredients, the oyster sauces contain oyster, the soy sauce contains soy bean and wheat, and the sesame oil contains sesame. Customers with allergies should carefully review the ingredient list on each product page before purchasing.

7. Do I need to refrigerate the sauces after opening?

Some products should be refrigerated after opening. The Shajing 100% Oyster Juice Pure Oyster Sauce and Shajing Premium 80% Oyster Sauce specifically say to refrigerate after opening. The Yu Yue soy sauce is listed as best refrigerated, while the fish sauce should be stored in a cool, dry place. Always follow the storage instructions on the product page or bottle.

8. How long do the products last?

Shelf life varies by product. Current product pages list examples such as 8 months for the Shajing 100% Oyster Juice Pure Oyster Sauce, 12 months for the Chaoshan fish sauce and Shajing 80% oyster sauce, 18 months for the Yu Yue soy sauce, and 24 months for the Zhengdao sesame oil. Please check the manufacturing and expiry date printed on your bottle or packaging.

10. How much is shipping, and do you offer free shipping?
